Magadheera (Telugu: మగధీర English Version: The Myth) is a 2009 Telugu film directed by S.S. Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind. Ram Charan Teja plays the lead role along with Kajal Aggarwal while actors Srihari and Dev Gill play other prominent roles. Filming started in February 2007 and because of various delays, was released theatrically worldwide on 31 July 2009 in 1200 screens. Magadheera is the highest budgeted Telugu film ever taken with a budget of INR 40,00,00,000.[2] With a gross collection above Rs 100 crores, the highest for a Telugu movie [3]. Following the film's success, the film will be dubbed into Tamil as Maaveeran, which is slated to release in January 2010.[4]
The story begins in 1609. Kalabhairava (ram charan) is a guard of udayagarh kingdom.His family is praised by everyone for their sacrifice for the kingdom. Mithra (Kajal agarwal) is the only princess of the kingdom. Bhairava and mithra fells in love with each other while her relative ranadev billa wants to marry mithra to capture the throne. He loses a challenge with Bhairava for marrying mithra and he is sent out of the kingdom as per the challenge. In the bhairava's ancestral backround, no male lives more than 30 years and all of them died for protecting the kingdom. The king is worried about that and pleades bhairava to sacrifice his love. Mean while ranadev billa mingles with Sher Khan (srihari) who is in a spree of conquering India and in process nears the udayagarh kingdom to conquer the kingdom of udayagarh. They kill everyone in the kingdom in the absence of bhairava who wents with Mithra to Bhairava kona (a spiritual place) to offer yagnas for the welfare of the kingdom. The enemies come to that place to kill bhairava and conquer the princess. Bhairava and mithra dies there after bhairava kills a hundred of sher khan's soldiers single-handedly in a fight.The second shade of the story is in 2009 where bhairava, mithra, sher han and Ranadev billa takes rebirth in this century.

Filming
The second half of the movie in the 16th century was shot in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Rann of Kutch. A part of the film was shot in Badami in Karnataka. The first and last part of the film was filmed at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
The first song of the film "Bangaru Kodipetta" was filmed at the Chennai Port. "Nakosam Nuvvu" song of the film was shot in Switzerland. "Panchadara Bomma Bomma" song was shot at Golkonda fort in Hyderabad
